Through its partnership with Akamai, Cybercom offers a unique solution for portals. Akamai provides the world’s largest network platform for web content delivery. That way, enterprise customers can increase web site capacity as needed and get control over performance – they need not build unnecessarily large infrastructures.
For SKF, a roller bearing supplier, the portal is one of the company’s most important marketing channels. Every day, the portal gets between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors from 185 countries, and it has more than 100 local web sites. SKF’s web sites improved response time worldwide by an average of 300%, through integration in 2004 with the Akamai technology that Cybercom offers. SKF noticed a fourfold performance improvement in Asia, which is an important growth market for the company.
“The change was dramatic,” says Richard Olivekrona, global Internet and intranet manager at SKF. “When we launched the solution, traffic increased 30% in just a few days, and we cut response times by 25%.”
