Sony Ericsson - e-commerce and strong brand worldwide

E-commerce spells big opportunities for Sony Ericsson – one of the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers. The ability to effortlessly offer special campaigns locally, with global availability, is still a unique phenomenon. Sony Ericsson does this via an e-shop concept that was launched in 2004. The company facilitates management of requests for products such as phones, accessories, and PC cards. Customers throughout the world can perform tasks on a 24/7 basis. Multinational enterprises get localised e-shops in which their employees can order targeted products and offerings from Sony Ericsson.

Cybercom is responsible for application management on Sony Ericsson’s external web sites; it has implemented business-to-enterprise (B2E) solutions, and it designed and built the Sony Ericsson business-to-consumer (B2C) concept. The solutions are built on IBM Web-Sphere Commerce version 5.6.

“E-commerce offers many opportunities,” says Mats Frisk, Director Internet Solution Centre at Sony Ericsson. “We achieve very high quality in all our offerings and campaigns – thanks to a centralised solution with a global contact interface. The challenge was to create a scaleable
solution that manages language support and contracts for global customers with national differences – a flexible, adaptable solution for dealing with fast, constant changes. Cybercom
helped us succeed in meeting this challenge.”

Cybercom also developed Sony Ericsson’s brand portal, which is available for the company’s employees and close partners that work with marketing communication of the company’s products. Material and images used for marketing the company’s products are available from the portal; this ensures brand strength and stimulates brand-related initiatives.

Cybercom built the brand portal with IBM WebSphere Commerce and Digital Media Enabler version 5.6.
