ASSA ABLOY is a successful global group with subsidiaries on every continent. Cybercom developed a purchasing portal for ASSA ABLOY to facilitate internal operations.
"It's very exciting to keep track of our customers around the world," says Anders Risberg, project manager at Cybercom.
Cybercom has had a partnership with ASSA ABLOY since 2000, and the purchasing portal project started during the summer of 2002. Since then a lot has happened. ASSA ABLOY started using the platform in Sweden at the end of October, and now the time has come to connect its subsidiaries to the portal.
Here are a few benefits from using the e-business solution that Cybercom developed:
- Easier for companies within the group to do business with one another.
- Shorter lead-time from order to delivery.
- Data and information with better quality and reliability.
The challenge was to create a platform that could integrate all business systems used within the group's subsidiaries. Plus it had to be implemented within a short period.
Cybercom chose a standard product, iCore process server - a broker solution - to integrate the different systems and the new purchasing portal. Microsoft's .NET technology was used for development.
"Cybercom presented a smart, cost-effective solution that met all our demands. We also worked with Cybercom on earlier projects, and we're very pleased with the results," says Göran Jansson, ASSA ABLOY.
The advantage to using the iCore broker solution is that it's relatively easy to integrate in different business systems, which was very important in the ASSA ABLOY project.
Cybercom's consultants have extensive experience with system integration and enterprise application integration (EAI), service oriented architecture (SOA) and enterprise service bus (ESB). Today, many companies are looking for solutions including those concepts so their previous IT investments can be used in an effective, secure IT environment. The ASSA ABLOY project is a good example of a cost-effective EAI solution.
