Cybercom run a seminar at IVA

On 4 June, Cybercom ran a seminar to encourage recruitment at the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). Daniel Akenine from Microsoft and Anders Liling and Misel Lukic from Redpill spoke about open source code. Andreas Eriksson and Anders Risberg, from Cybercom, served as moderator and master of ceremonies, respectively. Many Cybercom customers and contacts had opportunities to raise questions and then later continue discussions during a reception at the Grodan restaurant.

Daniel Akenine, MicrosoftDaniel Akenine, Microsoft's open source spokesperson, talked about Microsoft's interoperability project in which companies are perceived as web-service consumers or producers. Communities constitute an excellent way to build bridges and make Microsoft's technology available for customers, partners, or competitors.

Microsoft works with Linux, MySQL, Ruby, Java, Apache, PHP, Python, Eclipse, Samba, and others. Great links: Codeplex.com, Port25.com, channel9.msdn.com, and channel8.msdn.com.

Daniel Akenine's final statement: "In the end it's all about having fun!"

Misel Lukic & Anders Liling, RedpillAnders Liling talked about Redpill, which started in 2003 and works only with open source code. Customers select open source code for financial reasons but then start thinking that they get better products and services than with licensed products.

Misel Lukic spoke about Redpill being the first in the world to put JBoss ESB into operation with Swedish
Rail (SJ). He described a customer project with service oriented architecture (SOA) in which they combine products with the Scrum (a light-weight, agile, software development method) with this formula: Scum + ICC + open source = SOA.

Anders Liling and Misel Lukic's final statement: "May the source be with you!"
