Many Swedish IT consultancies have been closing their foreign offices. But some still swim upstream. “I’m an entrepreneur,” says Peter Keller-Andreasen, managing director of Cybercom’s Copenhagen office. “And while this a really fun company to work in, it’s serious attitude attracts me.”
Since Cybercom Danmark started, recruitment and sales are two priorities. It primarily serves customers in banking, finance, and telecom; Nordea, Maersk and Scandinavian IT Group (previously SAS Data) are three examples.
“Many customers invested heavily in their business systems. The right e-business solutions would give them opportunities to generate a lot of revenue. But it’s impossible to get the old and new systems to communicate with each other. And that’s where we enter the picture. We can make them communicate – quickly and securely.”
This isn’t the first time that Keller-Andreasen is working for a Swedish company. He previously worked for TietoEnator’s Danish operation, but he prefers a smaller operation and building something new.
“I think it’s exciting to launch and operation and watch it grow. An entrepreneurial spirit possess me. Everyone participates much more in a small company. It was a big deal for the entire company when we got our first order.
Customers don’t seem notice that Cybercom Danmark is a relatively small organisation: “We haven’t observed any negative reactions. Our employees have extensive experience in working with really large consulting projects. The Copenhagen office has 40 employees, but we can easily put together a larger team of experts, primarily from our pool of colleagues in Malmö. And we have access to additional skills thanks to the 400-member-strong staff within the Cybercom group.”
Other success factors include the consultants’ many years of experience and their dedication: “The key to success lies in our values: we always strive to perform better for our customers. For example, let’s say you’re working with a tender, and you’re not quit pleased. So you give it another 30 minutes, and it becomes really great rather than just acceptable. You might arrive home a little later, but you acquire totally different energy and more business! All of us possess this dedication and energy and it shows: our customers notice.”
